Dear Parent(s):

We are excited to inform you that beginning April 1, 2019 we will be electronically prescribing and refilling your child's ADHD/Category II Controlled medications.  With this new feature there are a few changes that you now need to be aware of:

  1. You will no longer be picking up paper prescriptions at our office to take to the pharmacy; they will be sent electronically and are to be picked up at the pharmacy of your choice.
  2. We will be requiring no less than a 5-7 day notice for refills (this can be done by phone or portal request).  This is due to the strict regulations for electronically prescribing these Category II Controlled medications.  The providers will make every effort to send refills at the end of the day when they are in office; however this may not always be possible. The nurses are unable to send these refills; therefore a 5-7 day notice is required.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind you of some things that are in effect with the prescribing of these medications.

  1. Your child is to be seen every 3-4 months for a medication check appointment in order for the providers to assess the medications effectiveness and/or possible side effects.
  2. The assessment tools used (Vanderbilt forms) are to be completed before your child's appointment.  We are now providing electronic surveys/assessment that are accessed by the parent through our patient portal and by the teacher through a link emailed to them.  These tools are a key component for the providers in assessing your child.
  3.  If you do not complete these assessments prior to your child's appointment we ask that you arrive at least 10 minutes early to complete them.
  4. You must provide us with your child's teacher's email in order for us to send them an invitation to fill out their assessment.  You should also confirm that they have completed the forms prior to the scheduled appointment to avoid the need to reschedule.
